Bicycle seat
The decision regarding which type of bicycle seat to purchase
is dependent on the style of riding a cyclist does, along with their
body type. Bicycle seats are designed to accommodate both competitive
and leisure riding, along with cyclists who ride exclusively on the
road, to those who are generally found on the trail.
Fast, competitive road cyclists will find that the bicycle seat that
will accommodate their riding style will need to be narrow. These seats
are designed with the cyclists forward position in mind, along with
the rapid movement of their legs. Keeping the seat narrow provides for
better angling and lowered wind resistance.
Casual riders, along with those cyclists more geared toward mountain
sports, will generally choose a wider bicycle seat that accommodates
the upright position of their body. Bike seats for this population are
manufactured in either gel or foam, to lower costs and provide a greater
diversity of options.
